Cranks like banshee but never starts. Strong spark at plug but plug never wet with fuel. Tank half full. Loosened fitting at fuel filter and turned key on expecting to see massive spray from high pressure fuel pump (fuel injected engine). Nothing. Concluded in-tank fuel pump was dead. Replaced pump (fun) and it started right up. Next day it behaved as it did before the pump replacement. It's never started again, even for a second. Have read that there is a fuel shutoff valve and fuel pump relay on this car which may be at fault but haven't been able to discover where they are on this year/model and how to test them. Can you help? Thanks.

Hi heliotropic and TY for the donation

Check and test the EFI relay and the Circuit opening relay if both okay -block open the airflow meter flap and attempt to start vehicle-let me know what happened.

I had the same problem the other day in my 92 celica. Check the wires for the fuel pump and make sure nothing is grounding itself out. (mine were in the trunk under the carpet by the fuel tank)

if that doesn't work then try checking the relay and the fuse. My problem was the fuse, it was located in the fuse box in the passenger side near the bottom front corner of the door, but I'm not sure where yours is.
