The check engine light (MIL) is lit on my car. So I took the car to an private mechanic. He took 80$ and finally came up with the fact that the evaporator canister/VSV assembly needs to be replaced and is asking about $700-$800. Is it really worth doing it through a non-dealer or is it good to go to a dealer.
