Retieve check engine codes

1987 toyota camry 104,000 miles, 4cyl, auto, wagon, without hooking up a obd1 reader is there a way to retieve check engine codes

Find the diagnostic connector right side fender-jump TE-1 to E-1 and read of the flashes at the check engine light on the dash-it will be a 2 numbered code

I did this but can only find the E-1 terminal and a terminal TEm not a TE-1 any help

thanks retieved the code 22 water temp sensor maybe any other thoughts
