When traveling at high speed only (75mph) there is an occasional intermittent sqeal emitted from the right front wheel that lasts only a second or so and this is accompanied by a pull of the wheel to the right. This feels almost as though the right front brake is being applied. I put new OEM pads on a couple of months ago and the anti-rattle clips were properly installed so I do not beleive this is related to a brake problem. I also do not suspect a wheel bearing as this issue only occurs intermittently at high speeds. I put the front of the car up on jackstands and checked for play and the only thing I noticed was alot of slack in the diff. The CV boots and joints seem to be OK and are not making the usual popping or clicking sounds associated with bad CV's. I did notice that there is a half shaft "carrier" bearing mounted in a pillow block affixed to the transfer case on the right side. Could this bearing be the culprit? If so how difficult is it for someone with a mechanical aptitude to replace this bearing? Thanks, Dave

That bearing could be the problem,I have never seen one go bad before, but that doesnt mean it couldnt be it.Im honestly not sure if it is serviceable seperatly from the axle assembly. If so it would have to be pressed off and on by a machine shop, otherwise it is simply removing the axle and replacing it.I have seen many wheel bearings that are bad that didnt have slop in them when checking with car lifted, it is a whole different game when the weight of the car is on it.

Thank you for your reply. You mention the wheel bearing as a possible culprit however I have never heard of a wheel bearing that only made noise or acted up at highway speeds. Is that possible? Dave
