Can a crash repair of a right front strut, with a new strut, weaken the left front strut on a 2002 camry 4 cyl. Auto?

Hi there,

Struts should be replaced as a set, often fitting one new strut shows up the other as being in poor condition, only because of the firmness of the one new strut and one older soft strut, appearing a lot worse than one first thought.
