I understand that a too rich mixture could cause a rotten egg odor. My problem is that when I start my car, and it only happens upon initial start up, blue smoke comes out of the exhaust. Could this be a too rich fuel mixture, a catalytic converter problem or a blown head gasket problem? The car seems to run fine otherwise.

blue fuel usually means it is burning oil.

a rotten egg smell usually indicates a faulty catalytic converter.
