I drive my car daily...today i went to start it, turned the key, it didn't turn over but start ticking so i turned it off and removed key. It ket making the ticking noise for about 3-4 min without the key in the ignition. Now the interior lights aren't even on and the alarm is not coming on. We had the engine replaced 6/09. What would cause this? And how can it continue to tick like that even after the key is out of the ignition?

From what it sounds like, your battery is dead. I would try jump starting first and see what happens.

Thanks for your input, as it turns out the battery did drain completely because the starter got stuck in the engage position, we replaced the starter and battery yesterday and all is well. Thanks for the input.
