Timing belt chain & water pump were replaced and not enough coolant put back in the vehicle causing to overheat after driving about 10 minutes. Vehicle was pulled over and coolant added. Is it possible that an oil pump gasket leak could be caused by the overheating or could have been nicked while someone was working on the timing belt chain or was the leak most likely developed over time due to cracking with age?

Hi NBryson,

Oil pump gaskets hardens ovet time and if any work was done nearby, the vibration could have caused it to leak.

Overheating is also possible so does careless workmanship. It is a matter of interpretation.
