If the date code isnt as shown, it may be an aftermarket part, not OE. If manufactured to the OE(bad) part it too could be the problem. As far as Calif, emissions, thats what it says, but these cars are sold in other states! Canada has a slightly different exhaust sytem on some imports, yours could be a canada model.

Merlin-
The replacement remanufactured injectors arrived and I installed them yesterday. I am cautiously optimistic about the outcome, the car seems to start fine now (hot and cold).
My original injectors were probably affected by that bulletin you sent me, they had all the symptoms described by the bulletin. I couldn't match up any of the date codes listed in the bulletin on these original OEM injectors.

The first set of re-manufactured injectors did not have any of the symptoms listed by the bulletin. The car ran fine, just wouldn't restart well after sitting. It should be noted that these injectors passed the dealer's leakdown test, the technician compared his test results against factory tolerances and provided me with the written pressure test/leakdown results. So, injector leakdown can not be completely ruled out by Toyota's leakdown tolerances. I will continue to investigate my car's origins to see if it is a California or Canadian car, and whether or not there are different injectors for the different vehicles.

So, I wanted to take a moment to thank you and others that participated in helping me. I certainly did learn alot about how this system works and some basic testing methods. I probably just should have sprung for the $900 that Toyota wanted for new injectors.

Thanks again-
Don
