Six cylinder front wheel drive automatic 72,200 miles.

The emergency brake light on the dash stays on all the time. I took the car for inspection and it failed but the mechanic acknowledged everything to do with the brakes is in good working order. It just will not pass inspection because this light is on all the time. Earlier in the week I had the car at my mechanics who specializes in Toyota's and Honda's but he does not do inspections. He fixed my the problem that was causing the check engine light to be on all the time. I asked him to look into the brake light and he said they looked at it but did not figure out what the problem is. He also said the brakes are mechanically sound and the fluid is level is correct. Does anybody know why this brake light stays on all the time even though everything pertaining to the brakes is mechanically sound? Thank you for your time.

I found an answer for this. There is an electronic sensor that is built into the brake fluid reservoir. It is not working properly. I tested this by unplugging the wire from the outside of the reservoir and then looking on the dash and the brake light was off. Then every time I plugged it back in the brake light on the dash was back on. Fortunately my brakes are mechanically sound. Unfortunately, I cannot buy just the electronic sensor, I have to buy the whole reservoir. Regards,
