Hello. My car is in good condition, I keep up on the oil changes and such. However, sometimes, when I try to start the car, the engine cranks over but it doesn't catch. The RPM's go down to zero while my battery stays on and the check engine light goes on. After the initial start, I turn the key, and hold down the gas until it catches. (I know it catches because I will hold the gas at a steady RPM, and when it catches the RPM's shoot up)

I have taken this issue to two different mechanics. The first mechanic ran a diagnostic and found nothing. The second mechanic changed the fuel filter the first time, hoping that was the issue. About a week later, the problem occurred again so I brought it back. They too ran a diagnostic and found nothing. They checked a lot of things and found nothing. I've searched the internet and nothing has matched my issue.

HELP!
