Unpredictably, the engine cranks & starts but immediately the rpm drops and dies. Occurs usually when the engine has been turned off for 2/3 hours.
Starts fine in the morining when its really cold.

Can it possibly be related to the starter since it is very old?

Can it be IVC valve & how likely?

Can it be fuel injection? (The engine runs smooth & never hesitates when running.)

Check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump/pressure regulator/fuel filter-then the idle air control valve and EGR valve.

There's nothing wrong with the starter-its doing its job
