Hi,

I have just bought the car. The coolant level was low (almost nearing the "LOW" mark. So we added some water some time back.I have bought new coolant. Is it fine if I just put it in the coolant container (mix it) or do I need to drain the previous coolant? Also can I do it by myself?

Thanks

I would add the straight coolant in the amount that you added water. Its not an exact science on the mixture. In a perfect world you would want a 50-50 mixture of coolant and distilled water but in reality I dont think there is a car out there that is running that perfect. You can purchase a refractometer to check the protection level of the coolant. You can purchase it at any auto parts store.
