I just bought this car on 1/27/10 and the same night I came home it cut off, then periodically since it has cut off while slowing or at a stop light. The problem is getting worse and now the engine light is on and it comes back as a code pa0115 and pa0116 or it might be ps, but I am sure the numbers are right. Was told it is the coolant system. But the cutting off I am afraid it may cost a lot of money to repair. Can you help?

Hi there,

These codes refer to the engine coolant temp sensor, this is not the same as the temp gauge sender, This sensor is one of the input signals that the ECU requires to run the engine management system, with faulty inputs it may be causing the system to shut down, I would get the sensor changed and do a continuity test from the sensor back to the ECU to check for any hard wiring problems as well, start here.
