Car was running fine and then just quit. Was able to safely pull off the road to side street. Have tried jumping battery and even put in a different battery but there is no signs of life from the engine. There is electrical in the car, enough to run lights, radio etc. When I turn the key, there is one click in the engine compartment but no sound from the starter trying to work. Serpentine belt is intact. Help, please.

No crank at all/nothing/nada:

Could be the starter, starter relay/park and neutral switch and ignition switch assuming the battery and connections are good.

Would any of those things you listed (starter, starter relay/park and neutral switch and ignition switch) going bad cause the engine to just stop running while driving it?

I am planning to buy a 1997 Camry, so I am interested in knowing what the issue was and how it was resolved.
