1996 Toyota Camry rebuild or replace engine?

have a 1996 camry le...300000
engine has spring busted on valve(?) so it shakes at
standing. if i rebuil d top of engine will the bottom be ok too?? mechanic says pistons and bottom stuff looks real good. I don't want car notes....your advice will be followed.......thanks alot

Hi there,

you do run the risk of burning oil if the bottom end is a bit tired. I would be guider by your mechanic on this one as it is something you need to see to advise. These engines are fairly robust, ad if there was not oil consumption problem before , i feel that you will be OK with a top end o?haul.
