My mileage gage has been acting funny lately. While I am driving, the gage will drop down to 0mph stay there for a second and then go back up to the speed I am driving. This has been going on for a few months. This past week it did it again and then my check engine light came on at the same time. What do you think this could be?

Are you talking about the speedometer? That is controlled by your vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) located on top of your transmission. Faulty VSS will set a code and turns the check engine light. But I would have that checked before you start replacing unnecessary parts. Go to CSK/O'Reilly auto part store and ask them where they would send you to get the scan for free. Each CSK/O'Reilly store has partnered up with a shop to perform said test.
