My car began to not want to start, it would turn over but not start. It did this several times, but it would finally start. Then it left me on the road. We went to get it the next day and it started up. Next time it died we sprayed start fluid in the air flow and it would fire. We thought it was a fuel issue, and replaced the pump and filter. This seemed to fix it for a few hours and then it started dying and not wanting to start back up. It would still start when we sprayed starter fluid in the air flow. Now it won't get fire at all and won't start with the fluid. Please help!!!!!!!!

Do below and comeback with some results we start here.

Disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor /distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, ECM,Ignitor cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

What are you missing when the car won't start. Spark, fuel? I would check the data with a scan tool and see if the coolant temp sensor is droping out.

We tested the spark plugs they were not getting fire, then we tried again fifteen minutes later, and they were getting fire and the car started again, it will now start right up, so now we are just not sure what our next step should be. We are leaning toward the ecm, is there a way to check to make sure that is the problem?

If you were not getting spark and it was not starting and then you have spark and it is starting then I would say you have a spark problem. Next time it does not stat you have to make sure you are getting a power and a pulsing ground to the ignition coil. You were getting fuel to the engine and were you getting a fuel inj. control? What were you using to test spark? If all you are missing is spark then I would guess you have an ign. coil problem.
