Camry made a huge explosion type sound on the highway and then the engine shut off. I was driving at 70 mph in second gear by accident. It felt like something slammed into something else. Two mechanics said that it sounded liike I snapped the timing belt bec of how I was driving in 2 gear. I bought the car used and the prev owner said that he had changed the timing belt at 90000 miles. What do I do? Engine does not start.

Yes Mark I took off the cover and the belt looks fine. But would I be able to SEE if the belt snapped or maybe it just lost some teeth or maybe it is broken but I can;t see it.

Check the timing marks, with the crank shaft on TDC No1 there is a small hole in the cam gear at around 11-00 o'clock position it should line up with a scribed line on the backing plate, if this is ok let me know and well look into it a bit further, also try and get a comp test done as well and post the results.
