When the engine is cold the car is hard to accelerate. 0-60 in about 90 seconds. Also the transmission has trouble shifting during this time. After the temperature gauge gets above the C it shifts a little easier, and when the engine is at normal operating temp it shifts fine? Will a flush solve this problem or could it be something more major.

Hi pukenx,

I do not think the problem is related to the coolant. The more likely cause would be bad spark plug wires or the MAF.

Is the Check Engine Light showing?

I appreciate the response but I was referring to the temperature of the engine, not meaning about coolant. When the engine temp is cold then the car is hard to shift after it warms up it shifts a little easier. Thank you

The operating temperature is directly related to the coolant.

If spark plug wires are bad, engine would perform poorly when starting from cold. As the engie warms up, the power would be restored.

When performance is poor, the trans would not shift correctly.
