1994 Toyota Camry No acceleration

When I started it this morning it was very sluggish. would hardly keep the idle. when I put it in gear it was weak and slow to move. After a while the performance got a little better but, never normal, very weak and slow on the acceleation. The engine seemed to get hot but the tempature gauge remaind normal. all fluids are normal ( no water in the oil no smoking exhaust ). any help would be greatly appreciated.
