1993 Toyota Camry Rough Idle when put into gear

The engine runs slightly rough, until put into gear, be it reverse or any forward drive gear. No check engine light. I've replaced the spark plugs thus far, which seemed to be rather worn. What would the next recommended step be?

Hi there,

other things to check are the fuel filter, leads, air filter. Check ignition timing and idle speed. Check for any vacuum leaks around the inlet manifold. Any engine adjustments must be done as per workshop manual instructions or more problems will beset you.
