1993 Toyota Camry Front Wheel Drive Automatic 86000 miles

my rear light out warning light on the dash stays on all the time even though all lights are working. Also when I am in drive and I step on the brake the R light comes on also as if it is in reverse, so with the brake on I have the drive and the reverse light on at the same time. I called toyota and they said it was the computer if so which one? Thanks don

The brakes, reverse and tail lights all uses a common ground and the symptoms described seems to be a bad ground.

I would suggest checking the grounding points for looseness or contaminations. Groung wire is White/Black and it is bolted onto body under left quarter panel.

To test if it is the cause, attach a wire to the taillight assy wire harness White/Black wire and ground it.
