Engine problem
1993 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 120000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I admit - I know liittle about mechanics, and I hope the repair shop did not see me coming, but I put my 1993 Camry in to check a "rear/front seal leak" and 'torn passenger axle boot' that was spotted by the tech during an oil change at a quick lube shop. The repair shop quoted me $2500 to fix the problem as they also discovered that I needed a new timing belt, water pump, cxam seal, valves covers, plugs, CV boots etc etc. They now tell me that after having fixed all that thay they have now discovered 1 cyl is not working and I need a new engine. Should I be paying to fix an engine that they are now pulling to replace? Should the car be taking a short roll off a long pier instead? Help!

Thanks for your response!

The repair shop tells me I am on the hook for $2500 regardless as they already did the work before they discovered it was one cyl short. Just doesn't seem ethical, sigh.

Thanks again,
