1993 Toyota Camry cv boots

My cv joint boots failed and my mechanic installed rebuilt axles with new boots about 2k miles ago.Inspecting the boots today showed two boots collapsed not torn.Will this cause the new boots to fail? Is collapse caused by lack of lube? Thanks,John
