I went to replace my alternator over the weekend, and the tentioner bolt broke. Some how it got cross treaded and snapped at the end of the treads. The important part of the bolt was still in the alternator. I have my new one and returned the old back for the core charge. I bout a replacement bolt, but it doesn't seem to be the right size. The bolt I have 5/16th corse thead. I was wondering if that one is correct, or if I need to get a different size. What is the right size?

Hello
I do not have access to the bolt sizes, but I am sure it is a metric not standard. Probably a 13 or 15mm. The proper bolt can be obtained from the dealer for this at a small cost.
