My retired mom's car will start without problems, run for awhile then suddenly quit without warning. No warning lights come on; the car does not sputter or hesitate. The gas is the same brand and same station she always uses. Help (she on a tight budget).

Hi treker54,

Thank you for the doantion.

When the engine stalled, were the dash lights showing?

Were you able to restart then vehicle stalled and if yes, was it easy?

What is the idling speed after warming up?

1. The lights on the dash went out- she did not have the radio on so I can't comment on that part.
2. She was able to start it immediately without a problem but it stopped again in less than 1 mile. She restarted it again without a problem then got it home (less than 3 miles away) without further incident.
3. Don't know about the speed (the woman's 76yo and not into cars).

Sorry for the delay in answering, seems to have diffculty connecting to the site for past few days.

What I meant was the engine idling speed after the vehicle has warmed up. When sitting at a light ets, what was the indicator of the rpm showing?

If the dash lights weres not showing when the engine stalled, it should be a cut in power supply and this should be caused by a bad ignition switch.
