my '89 camrys speedometer an odometer have just all the sudden stopped working and i have heard it could be several things. i just want to know for sure what i need to dig in to. on a side note, my cruise control also quit working at the same time and my overdrive light is flashing on and off. if you could help me, it would be much appreciated.

Most probably the speed sensor is faulty and replacing it would solve all your problems.

I have the exact same problem. I just switched the speedometer sensor and it didn't fix anything. Although it was with a sensor from a junkyard, so I suppose it could have been bad too. I realized this is an old post, but was there ever a resolution?
