My vehicle was overheating , I had a new radiator put in due to mechanic found a leak in radiator.
I drove it a few weeks and had the AC on when idling.
The temperature went up to hot and smelled like rubber burning. I turned off AC put heater on , drove home . I then let it cool down and then checked the antifreeze level it took a 1 1/2 gallon of antifreeze. I drove to mechanic and he put a new radiator cap on and had to add another 1/2 gallon of antifreeze the next day.
Coulkd this be a head gasket and if so how do mechanics check for this?

Thank you
Cindy
