1994 Toyota 4Runner ignition timing

Am having trouble passing smog check.Smog guy says ignition is 6 degrees too far advanced.Apparently this is causing the nox level at 15 M.P.H. to be too high .I need the correct ignition timing. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the information I needed on my car for the four- funner , I fixed the timing problem but, how do I know if the E.G.R. is opening corectly. Is There a test that I can do myself. If you guys can help me to get this car topass smog, I will gladly send you A donation.

10 deg after TDC may want to check EGR if it does not open NOx levels will be high.

See if vacuum is on hose to EGR off idle then see if diapharm lifts during rpm increase. Also apply vacuum to EGR at idle if it goes rough or dies EGR is working.
