I have a 4 runner that is pretty old. i have no idea whats wrong with it. i got it in a trade. The truck starts but once i let go of the gas it turns off, even if i hold the clutch. also if i leave my battery in there and come back the next day. i find it dead, do you think maybe its just cause i have bad batteries or, i have tried two different old ones already. i thought it might be the alternator but still would that cause the truck to stop if i let go of the gas?

if you haven't fixed this already . you might want to take the alternator off and get it tested ( AutoZone or somewhere ) they test it Free . As for the truck cutting out when you take your foot off the gas - you could check for a vacuum leak or maybe clogged fuel filter / air filter . It could be a number of things ,but I'd check there first .
