Timing belt broke and while I was taking it apart. I noticed rub marks on the cover from the belt, so I replaced the belt only with a new one. When tbd motor started the new timing belt walked forward about a quarter of an inch, so I replaced the tension-er and that did not help. Now I do not know what to check.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros. Com.

If you have everything together and the pulleys all line up, there should not be an issue. The only thing I can recommend you confirm are the two belt guides located behind and in front of the crankshaft pulley. Make sure they are facing the correct directions. I have attached a picture for you to see how they go on.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
