1994 Suzuki Sidekick timing marks

Engine Mechanical problem
1994 Suzuki Sidekick 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I replaced the head gasket and can't get the car started. The crank mark is right, but the cam has 2 marks. My manual says the cam mark has the letter "E" adjacent to it, but both marks have an "E". One of them also has a dot. That's the one I used. With the dist. rotor at number one, it won't start, and the further I retard the spark, the more it "wants" to run. I retard the spark almost 180 degrees and it try to start. I am thinking the cam mark isn't correct.
