1995 Other Suzuki Models Permanent CV Boots Vs. Temporary CV

My CV Boots are split - I don't know for how long, but I have no "symptoms" and would not have known until a friend had to replace belt in engine. I am "financially challenged" and wonder if you would tell me how long a temporary fix will last if I use the split boot kit made for my model Suzuki Swift as apposed to the very expensive job of replacing the original CV Boots. I need to know this soon so any advice to my predicament will be appreciated. Mimi
