When my husband first hooked up a trickle charger, he mixed up the terminals? Since then the car won't start. Battery charged successfully. Fuel flows out of carburetor, spark plugs sparked. I understand that mixing up the terminals can cause an electrical problem of some sort. Is there something I can check to determine if that is the problem?

I should say that this is the first time the car has been started since December but I've done this every winter and never had a problem before...

Thanks, Pam

Fuel flows out of carburetor, spark plugs sparked it should be able to combust. Using the trickle charger backwards will only blow a fusible link or the smaller fuses if its in direct path from the battery.

Your ignition system is working you're getting spark, and so as the fuel system is it flooding out or is the choke plate opening. What kind of spark is coming out of the wire is it a snapping blue spark?

Check the timing belt if its intact

Thanks for the suggestions. I had emailed my neighbor who has two older model suzukies and he said that if he flooded his, they were done for the day. He suggested that I spray starter fluid where the fuel had come out of the carburetor and try again without giving it fuel. Worked like a charm! Thanks for responding to my dilemna!!
