After a 200 mile road trip, my check engine light came on. In the past when this occurs, I have taken the car into my mechanic to have the computer read where the reading comes back as a bad cadilac converter and then he switches the check engine light off. This time, however, there is a very strong gasoline smell when I drive. Just wondering what could be the cause this smell and if it is due to the converter.

Hi:
If the check engine light is on, have it checked. Most nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free. Let me know what you find. Also, check the injectors and intake for fuel leaks. If you smell it in the car, chances are it is a leak under the hood.
