Our 1997 Subaru started overheating, had the radiator flushed, held for a while then overheated, changed the thermostat, checked the fan, drained the radiator again, then found that subaru was notorious for head gasket failure during that time period, so changed the head gasket, and now it's over heating again after about 30-60 minutes of driving. The only thing I can think of is the new thermostat was bad. I've put alot of $ out already and it isn't making much sense. Any ideas?

yeah the mechanic checked the water pump in the beginning. I read that even though you flush the radiator that sometimes there are bits and pieces that get caught and you have to take the radiator out to clean it better, or that the new thermostat sometimes doesn't work, it's not a OEM thermostat maybe I need to put one of those in. This one has us baffled.
