2006 Other Subaru Models All Wheel Drive Automatic 13000 miles

Last week my husband took our Subaru Forrester in to have the oil changed and told them to do whatever maintenance was required at this stage (a little over 13,000 miles). The day after this maintenance, the "Check Engine" light and the cruise control light went on. This happened the last time we took it in for maintenance, and at that time they told me that the gas cap was probably loose. It was, and after a couple of weeks, the lights went off. This time, I checked and it was not loose. Then my husband and I each went to fill up the gas tank separately, and each time the car wouldn't take more than a dollar's worth of gas without shutting down as if it was full (but there was less than half a tank). The guy at the gas station said there is a problem with the fuel pump. The guy at the place where we got the maintenance done said it couldn't be anything they did, but I'm suspicious. The car is only a couple years old. Am I right to be suspicious?

Hi paynedaly,

I don't think it isa anything to do with the fuel pump.

The tank is not breathing while filling up gas so it kicks the nozzle off. Get a check done on the Evap system.
