1983 Other Subaru Models cranks but no start

my 83 subaru cranks but will not start. It gets fuel but no spark. I only get spark from the coil when I stop cranking. I replaced the coil and the same thing happens. I hooked a wire from the +coil wire to the battery and from the starter to the battery to eliminated the ignition...still only sparks when disconnected from the battery.
