Windshield wipers suddenly stopped working. When I turn them on, they just move slightly at the base, like they are trying to overcome an obstacle, but the area around them is perfectly clear. The base moves but not enough to pull the wipers.

Four cylinder all wheel drive automatic 71,000 miles

my car is an anniversary edition. The windshield wiper stopped working. On a cold day after the car had been running fifteen minutes with defrost on to warm the wind shield, I turned on wipers and only the drivers side wipers worked. Do I need to replace motor or can I do something less complicated?
