1997 Subaru Legacy car wont start

1997 Subaru Legacy All Wheel Drive Automatic 200000 miles

I have a 97 Subaru Legacy. In the morning when I go out to start the car it will turn over but will not crank. If I put my foot on the gas lightly it will crank but is sluggish and cuts off if I take my foot off the gas. I can do this and something corrects itself and after a few times it will start on its own. Seems to be worse in cold weather. Any suggestions?

Sound like it is not getting enough gas. When was the last time you replace the fuel filter?

I've had the car about a year. We'll try the fuel filter. Thanks for your help.
