Engine problem
1995 Subaru Legacy Engine Size unknown All Wheel Drive Manual 152000 miles

my "check engine" light has come on for the 2nd time, and from what i remember from my mechanic, it is an emissions issue that may be the catalytic converter. the problem is that i don't have time to get to my mechanic prior to going on a weekend road trip to the snowy mountains. i definitely don't want to break down in the snow and am wondering if it is safe to drive long distances (about 5 hours each way) with a catalytic converter issue or should i spend the $180 to rent a car??
