1993 Subaru Legacy Metal scrapping

Why is it that when I put my car into reverse and back up my car make a pretty loud metal scrapping sound that comes from the rear of the car, and as I drive and car warms up it seems to stop. What could be wrong?

Have the brakes checked. Possible the shoes might be bad. If the emergency brake has worked I would pull it up a very little just enough to make it drag and listen for a noise. Without hearing the car in person. I assume the most likely part
