Recently my car battery died, I tried to jump start and all it did was move the speedometer pin forward every time I tried to start it. So I replaced the battery, the speedometer pin does not go back to 0, it just started idling/starting at just over 100 kph. The speedometer still works, it's just that the pin is not starting in the correct position.

What could be the problem here?

Cheers

Hello,

It sounds like the lack of voltage has stressed the gauge causing the new reading. It may come back in time but if not the cluster will need to be replaced. here is a video of the job being done on a similar car so you get the idea. The process is the same.
