Sounds like exhaust leak, coming from torque converter area

Vehicle starts runs fine, good power. Thought had exhaust leak, took to muffler repair, on rack determind no exhaust leak sound sounds like coming from torque converter. Could it be bendix not retracting all the way? Sound decreases when driving at hwy speed. Loudest at idle. Poss flex plate cracked? Most likely? Thanks, Don

if a starter drive is hanging up it would make a funny grinding type noise and usually when engine revved it stops. it cold be a crack plate or ring gear for that matter. not very easy on the starters either they usually fail quickly maybe torque converter bolt s loose
