The interlock button jumped out of the shifter handle. I can gently put it in the hole and it shifts normally. The end of the button broke off that keeps it in place. Can I buy just the button, if so will it snap back in? It looks like it works like an electrical plug with a couple of little ears on it that keeps it in place. The very inside end broke off, about an 1/8", which is where the catches were that kept it in the handle.
i removed the little horseshoe clip facing the dashboard, but the handle does not want to slide up off the shaft easily, I do not really want to force it cause there is a wire for the EOD I do not want to pop off. Is it just twenty one years stuck in place or is there another screw or retainer I do not know of? Where does the EOD wire unplug, is it under the console cover somewhere or under the car on the transmission?
Thanks in advance.

This may be a dealer item or a place that specializes in Thunderbird parts try www. Ford parts. Com they may have it and will probably ship to your home. If not the top piece the shifter knob.

Do you know how to slide the shifter handle up off the shaft, I removed the clip, but it feels stuck.

Check for a small screw like an allen wrench at front of knob.
