Just changed the A/C compressor. Noticed the serpentine belt cracking. Replaced it. Started the van and new belt squealing. Added a little more tension until the noise stopped but I feel that it is way too tight.
Purchasing the belt I had the option of a cheap and one that supposedly is better. I chose the cheaper one.
What do you think is causing the squeal noise and would a cheaper belt make the difference?

Good afternoon,

Yes, get rid of the cheap one and go with better quality.

While you have it off, spin any pulley yo be sure there is no noise from them.

Hey Roy, got the new belts, inspected pulleys, and then installed. No noise.
Thank you very much.
