I was recently in an accident. Body damage, no apparent motor damage, battery needed recharged. Got car back. Car (sometimes) stalls at light, stop sign etc. Took to garage. They reset computer and say there is nothing wrong with the car. They drove it. Question: can resetting the computer acutally fix the stall? Have not picked up the car yet and am looking for input before I do.
thanks.

I don't see reseting the computer fixing a stalling concern. When it stalled would it restart right away or did u have to wait for it to restart. Was there any codes?Let me know.

There were no codes and it started up right away. We have picked up the car and it runs good; no stalling (yet). Only thing I notice is at first start up the RPM fluctuates just a little. Once moving that stops even at stand still idle. Seems fine. Could it have been due to the battery needing recharged after the accident. (Loose cable?)

If u had a weak battery or loose battery cable that could cause stalling or the computer to make the engine act funny. Sounds like u got it going ok keep me posted especially if u get any codes popping up.

Well, spoke too soon. The vue is stalling again when you stop at light or slow way down to make a turn. Not sure where to go from here. No codes and does restart right away. Suggestions would be appreciated.

That's hard to pin down u have a stall and it starts right back up. With no codes. Maybe u have some transmission codes and there just not showing up with the generic code reader? Is there any transmission shop that would read ur codes for free if u had any?I have seen transmission issues on that model cause stalling. Have u had ur alternator tested?Let me know.

No, have not had alternator tested. The garage we took it too after we brought it home check & said there were no codes coming up for them either. We are taking it back to the garage that did the repair after the accident to see what he can find. It ran perfect before the accident. Could this be timing off?

Well have the alternator tested as well. Thats strange there are codes and the car is stalling out and wasnt stalling before the accident. Some wires may have cut when the accident happened possibley under the under hood junction box. Iam not sure what was damaged in this accident though. Another thing to check on vechile is open up ur under hood fuse box cover and make sure all those bolts by the fuses are tight they hold ur big connectors into the fuse box they loosen up sometimes and cause all kinds of crazy stuff to happen. Ur timming is computer controled so no worries there.U do have timming with ur timming chain from ur crank to ur cam but if that was off it would run crappy all the time and I dont see a accident causing that to jump time. Let me know what u find.
