Tonight I installed a cold air intake on my car. At first it started but I noticed the the intake was rattling so I used a pare of zip ties to hold it down to the battery box. But when I tried to start the car again the starter wouid not turn over. So I cut the zip ties and moved the cold air from the battery and anything metal to see if it was shorting out the car. Whean I tried to start it ihe starter did not engage fully and started to smoke.
after this I put the oem airbox back on and the car started. Is there a problem with my cars electrical system or what other problem could it be?

Where was the smoke coming from?Have you checked to make sure your battery cable's are clean and tight? It doesn't make sense that your cold air intake caused the starter to not work.
