We've been having a heavy storm today, Saturday, (lots of rain and heavy winds), and when I turned my car on about midway through the storm my service engine light had come on. It had been sitting in a parking lot the entire time. It's happened before (once during a rather wet snowstorm), and that time it went away. I just got an oil change (and a new radiator) about 1000 miles ago. I'm not due to go in again until 97000 miles. Normally I would just wait this out, but my mechanic is closed on Sundays and I am supposed to be driving from New Jersey to Connecticut on Monday.

Is it safe to drive the car to Connecticut and back? Most people I know have said to "wait a week and see if the light goes off." It's about 300 miles roundtrip.

Edit: Also, the car is running fine. There is no (noticeable) change in the way the car is running.
